Out of the Easy

Out of the Easy - (digital ARC)Colorful characters and complex relationships elevate this novel from what could have been just another story of a troubled childhood. The French Quarter of New Orleans circa 1940 comes alive in this well executed novel, complete with social, racial, and political boundaries. While a few of the characters seemed a bit stock, the situations and problems that Josie (the protagonist) faces were anything but simple, leaving me wondering what I would do in her shoes. I haven't yet read the author's previous book (Between Shades of Gray), but I'm adding it to my to-read list.
