Out of Nowhere

Out of Nowhere - Maria Padian I've read a few non-fiction books about refugees and immigrants playing soccer in American schools, so I was curious to see how this novel would compare. Complex characters dealing with big problems and a lot of grey areas make this a thought-provoking read. I particularly liked the parallels made between Tom's French-Canadian immigrant progenitors and the current influx of Somali refugees in the town. Tom desperately wants to do the right thing, but it's not always obvious what that is.
